The Abomination that Causes Desolation

Date: 09/10/11
Length: 37 minutes

Matthew, Mark, and Luke all record a very crucial conversation between Jesus and His disciples. It took place on Tuesday of Passion Week just hours before His Death. Earlier in the day He had predicted that the Temple would again be destroyed. To His disciples it looked as invincible as the Twin Towers in NYC 10+ years ago. In utter shock and amazement, after they had regained their breath and were able to speak again, the disciples asked him: "When will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?"
The answer that Christ gave has multiple meanings that extend directly to our day, to the end of the world, and to the "Blessed Hope" His glorious return at the Second Advent.
Matthew 24:15-16 has always puzzled me: "So when you see standing in the holy place 'the abomination that causes desolation, spoken of through the prophet Daniel - let the reader understand - then . . . flee to the mountains."
This references back to the one Old Testament Prophecy in the book of Daniel that Jesus put His finger on and commanded His followers to "understand". However for most of my life I haven't had a clue, what about you?
